She was a hopeful and optimistic character in Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi and Kelly Marie Tran delivered a strong performance in the role. Disney committing to putting Kelly Marie Tran in a starring role as Rose Tico in a Star Wars movie or series will definitely go a long way in showcasing their support of Asian creatives.įrankly, Rose Tico deserves more time in the spotlight. In addition to the dispiriting fallout from the awful behavior Tran had to endure, there has been an effort to stem anti-Asian hate in general over the last few months. We also have to believe that this is a good PR move for Disney. It sounds like the Mouse House enjoys working with her and has found a way to revive her Star Wars character in a big way.

One has to believe that this is an attempt to do her character justice after the actress was so horrendously attacked online and the studio slimmed her part down in the ninth film. Either way, we can conclusively state that Lucasfilm is interested in making an entire Star Wars project that will center around Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico. We have heard that it could be a full-fledged movie but might also be worked into a series on Disney+. Thanks to one of our trusted and proven inside sources, we have learned that Kelly Marie Tran will return as Rose Tico in a project that focuses on her character.
